Day: 94        Movie: A Charlie Brown Christmas

Ah Charles  Schulz, what would Christmas be without you!! This one is for the kids. Not much of a story(besides poor Charlie Browns trademark misery). I still like it though, with the dated animation, and the voices somehow exactly as i imagined them in the strip... :) Definitely a mustwatch if you've got kids or are a giant excuse of a child youself... :D

Day: 95        Movie: National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

This one i have to admit I had my doubts about. I mean i was never too much of a fan of Chevy Chase's brand of slapstick, but I was pleasantly surprised when one afternoon, having absolutely nothing to do at work last December, I decided  to watch it.

Its got some pretty decent writing including:
"Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
Kiss my ass!
Kiss his ass!
Kiss your ass!"

And "Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?"

Ok fine, I admit, I'm VERY easily amused, but still, the movie does have its strong points. Chevy plays an Average Joe, with big dreams for the holiday season, which predictably go wrong, with him constantly worrying about his bonus check and struggling to put up his 25,000 Christmas lights, dealing with the yuppie neighbours with their condescending attitude, while still being his big hearted self, pickin up presents for his cousins kids despite the fact that he can barely stand the bumbling mook himself.

Overall its a good watch, plenty of laughs and Christmas cheer... :D

Day: 96        Movie: The Christmas Clause

Unlike the previous one, this actually is a made for tv flick, and it shows through the whole damned movie... It stars Lea Thomson, you might remember her from Caroline in the City. Used to love the show actually, which makes me wonder whether she was always a shitty actress n I just didn't notice or did she just do badly here...  One way or the other this movie is terrible. Right from her terrible acting to the Deparment store Santa that is so smarmy and creepy he almost comes off as a child molester, to the cliched plot that they not only manage to bring nothing to but even seem to be making up as they go along... Overall, a disaster... Avoid it like the plague..

Day: 97        Movie: One Magic Christmas

This is a movie from the 80's that I thought was a Made-For-Tv production, but turns out it was a Walt Disney feature.

The movie is about a hard up family around Christmas time. The mother (though vaguely sexy in a housewife-next-door sorta way) is really grouchy about everything as can be expected, owing to their dire circumstances. The husband on the other hand is an optimistic chap(if a lil irrationally so) and is generous to a fault, even building a bike for a poor friend of his kids, because its all she wants for Christmas, when he himself is unemployed. He does however want to start a Bike shop of his own though his wife keeps vetoing it.

The movie centers around the rather trying circumstances that eventually force a transformation in the wife.

It is a rather heartwarming story if not a very well thought out one... I Still didn't mind watching it overall...

Plus the Santa here is probably the most convincing realistic portrayal I've ever seen in a movie.

The WHOLE movie is actually available in 8 to 10 minute installments on Youtube, so no hassle of downloading...
Have Fun!!

Day: 98        Movie: Jingle All The Way

Its 9 in the morning and i'm watching Jingle All The Way!! :D Thank god for Movies NOW!! Best start to the day ever!

Ok I know its not exactly premium fare but still, I watched it when i was about 10 or 12 i think and i thought it was pretty damned awesome back then! :D And Despite ARGH-nold's terrible acting, it still is saved by the kickass antics of Sinbad, a cameo by Jim Belushi and of course the guy you cant help but hate, Phil Hartman...

Day: 99        Movie: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

This is a beautiful lil Vintage animated Short from around 1946! :D Really

reminds me of the old cartoons we used to get when we were kids.

It can be found here at the Internet Archive.
